Service Details
Sump pumps, interior sealants, and drainage mats manage water once it’s already inside your walls. Positive-side waterproofing (exterior waterproofing) stops it before it ever reaches the foundation — the way the problem should have been solved from day one.
S&S Remedial Services provides professional positive-side waterproofing for residential, commercial and remedial projects throughout Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Logan and Ipswich. With more than 20 years of industry experience, our specialists can assess the source of water ingress and recommend a waterproofing system suited to the structure, exposure conditions and required finish.

External Waterproofing Solutions
1. Exterior Waterproofing Membrane
A continuous membrane installed on the water-exposed side of the foundation, basement or retaining wall. It helps prevent groundwater from entering the structure. Primers, joint detailing and penetration seals may also be required.
2. Protection and Drainage Board
A dimpled drainage board installed over the waterproofing membrane. It protects the membrane from damage during backfilling and directs groundwater toward the subsoil drainage system. Some protection boards do not provide drainage, so the specified product must be suitable for both functions.
3. Free-Draining Backfill
Clean, free-draining aggregate placed beside the drainage board allows groundwater to move toward the drainage pipe. This helps reduce water build-up and hydrostatic pressure against the structure.
4. Perforated Subsoil Drainage Pipe
A perforated pipe installed at or near the base of the wall or footing collects groundwater and carries it to an approved discharge point, stormwater system or sump. The pipe must be properly graded and protected against soil and sediment blockage.

Testimonials

We recently had positive waterproofing completed on our basement wall, and the results have been outstanding. Water intrusion was an ongoing issue during heavy rain, but since the work was completed, the area has remained completely dry. The team was professional, punctual, and explained every step clearly. I highly recommend their waterproofing services to anyone in Southport looking for a permanent solution to moisture problems.
Michael Turner – Southport, Gold Coast

Our home’s foundation walls needed serious attention after years of water intrusion near the Gold Coast border. This company’s positive side waterproofing work was thorough and clearly explained before, during, and after. The team respected our property and the results have exceeded expectations all year.
Natalie Roberts, Coolangatta

After years of dealing with damp walls and musty odors, we decided to invest in positive and negative side waterproofing. The difference has been remarkable. Our lower-level storage area now feels dry and fresh even during prolonged wet weather. The workmanship was excellent, and the crew maintained a clean worksite throughout the project. We are extremely satisfied with the outcome and would gladly recommend them to others in Robina.
Sarah Collins – Robina, Gold Coast

The positive waterproofing service exceeded all expectations. We had significant water seepage issues affecting our retaining wall, and nothing seemed to work until this treatment was applied. Since completion, we’ve experienced several storms with no signs of moisture penetration. The team demonstrated great attention to detail and provided exceptional customer service. Residents in Coomera can confidently trust their expertise.
David Hughes – Coomera, Gold Coast

Our garage wall was constantly affected by moisture, causing concern about structural damage. Waterproofing positive side solved the issue completely. The team worked efficiently and completed the project within the agreed timeframe. Several months later, the wall remains dry despite heavy rainfall. We appreciate their expertise and dedication to quality workmanship. I would gladly recommend their services throughout Helensvale.
Andrew Mitchell – Helensvale, Gold Coast

We hired this company for positive pressure waterproofing after repeated issues with moisture entering our basement. The transformation has been incredible. The waterproof membrane has provided excellent protection, and we have not seen a single sign of leakage since installation. The team was courteous and highly professional from start to finish. Anyone in Hope Island needing waterproofing should consider their services.
Jason Brown – Hope Island, Gold Coast

I could not be happier with the positive side waterproofing service provided. The crew conducted a thorough inspection before beginning the project and ensured every vulnerable area was protected. Since completion, our property has remained free from water damage and dampness. Their attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction were exceptional. A fantastic experience for homeowners in Broadbeach Waters.

Key Areas of Application
Basement and Foundation Waterproofing
Where excavation or external access is available, the outside of the basement or foundation wall can be repaired, prepared and waterproofed before a protection and drainage system is installed.
Retaining Wall, Brick Wall & Block Wall Waterproofing
Retaining walls experience ongoing contact with soil moisture and may be exposed to hydrostatic pressure. A suitable system can include membrane waterproofing, sealed penetrations, protection boards, drainage cells and subsoil drainage.
Rooftop and Roof Deck Waterproofing
Exposed slabs require a waterproofing solution that accounts for UV exposure, rainfall, thermal movement, drainage falls, penetrations and traffic conditions. We can treat cracks and joints before applying the specified membrane system.
Balcony and Terrace Waterproofing
Waterproofing beneath tiled or finished surfaces protects adjoining rooms and the structure below. Correct detailing around drains, thresholds, wall junctions and balustrade penetrations is critical.
Planter Box, Lift Pit and Below Ground Waterproofing
Require a system capable of handling constant soil moisture, irrigation and drainage. The membrane must be properly terminated and protected before soil and landscaping materials are installed.
Crack and Joint Treatment
Cracks, construction joints, penetrations and changes of plane are common points of failure. These areas may require polyurethane injection, epoxy repair, flexible sealants, or reinforced membrane detailing before the main waterproofing system is installed.

Frequently Asked Question
Is positive waterproofing effective against mold and mildew?
How long does outside waterproofing last?
What is the difference between positive side waterproofing and negative side waterproofing?
What are the key benefits of a waterproofing positive side?
A negative and positive side waterproofing membrane stops water before it enters the structural envelope, protecting concrete and rebar from freeze-thaw damage, efflorescence, and steel corrosion.
Is positive waterproofing easier to install in new construction or retrofits?
Does external waterproofing protect against hydrostatic pressure?
Yes, Brisbane or Gold Coast external waterproofing is specifically designed to resist continuous hydrostatic pressure generated by high water tables and heavy groundwater accumulation.
Why is surface preparation crucial for waterproofing positive side?
Proper surface prep—such as patching honeycombs, removing form ties, smoothing rough concrete, and applying primer—ensures the Brisbane positive side waterproofing coating adheres fully without pinholes or voids.
