Our Compliant Tiling Process
- Site inspection and compliance review
Inspect the substrate, drainage, layout, corners, joints, and penetrations against NCC, QBCC, and relevant Australian Standards. - Surface preparation
Clean and prime the surface, repair cracks, install angle fillets where required, and test moisture levels. - Waterproofing in wet areas
Apply an appropriate membrane—typically acrylic or polyurethane—in at least two coats, allowing the required curing time between coats. Junctions and penetrations are carefully sealed. - Integrity testing
Conduct an optional flood test for showers, balconies, and other high-risk areas to confirm the membrane is watertight. - Tile installation
Licensed tilers install the selected tiles on the prepared surface using suitable adhesive, followed by grouting and sealing. Falls are formed so water drains correctly without pooling. - Certification and warranty
Provide applicable QBCC compliance documentation, membrane records, and workmanship or manufacturer warranties.

The Hidden Danger of Loose Bathroom Tiles
Loose bathroom tiles look like a minor cosmetic issue, but they usually point to something bigger going on underneath. A few things worth knowing:
What’s actually happening beneath the surface
Tiles loosen when the adhesive (thinset or mastic) fails, often because water has been seeping through grout lines or cracked caulk for a while. Once water gets behind the tile, it can rot the underlayment, corrode metal fasteners, or promote mold growth in a space you can’t see or smell easily.

Essential Guide to Movement and Expansion Joints in Large-Scale Tiling
Tile is rigid, but the buildings underneath it are always moving slightly with temperature, humidity, and structural settling. Movement and expansion joints let a tile installation absorb that stress instead of cracking under it. Skip them, and even a perfect installation can tent, crack, or delaminate within a year or two.
Why They Matter
Tile, grout, thinset, and substrate all expand and contract at different rates. On small areas this is negligible, but across large floors, exterior spaces, or areas with big temperature swings, unreleased stress causes tenting, cracked tile or grout, and delamination.
Core Installation Rules
- Never bridge or ignore concrete substrate joints.
- Maintain a clean joint width of at least 6mm to allow proper expansion and compression.
- Ensure all joint edges are completely clean and free of adhesive residue before applying sealants.
